Hockey Umpiring

Any umpires can attend a meeting with the Herefordshire, Gloucestershire & Wiltshire Hockey Umpiring Association on Tuesday 8th September where the details of the new rules will be discussed.

We all know that hockey umpires do a thankless job, so don't forget to congratulate your umpire when they've had a good game! You get praise for having a good game and your umpire will enjoying hearing your positive feedback too.

If you have umpired games in the past, you'll know that it can be difficult at times, so give your umpire respect and try to keep your comments to yourself - at least during the game! No one thrives in negativity and whilst the game is underway it'll do neither of you any good if you can't be respectful and focus on the game. Only the captain should ever enquire about decisions, but the best time to discuss things is after the game - preferably with a drink in hand...!
