Personal Liability Insurance is included in the Subscription and is provided under the “English Hockey Insurance Scheme” run by Perkins Slade Specialist Sports Insurance Brokers.  The following is an extract from the Policy Prospectus (for further details you should contact the Treasurer).  The insurance includes cover for:

Civil Liability Protection

This includes, in a single policy wording, Public and Products Liability, Libel and Slander, Professional Indemnity, Directors’ and Officers’ and Employers Liability Insurances.

Cover is provided for all Club members, including volunteers and indemnity extends to:

  • Any Club activity, including trading for and playing of hockey, as well as any social, fund-raising and administrative activities.
  • A Club member who causes injury, damage or financial loss to a fellow member.
  • A Club, which borrows, rents or leases premises for sporting or social purposes and is held liable for damage to the facility.
  • The Limits of Indemnity for this cover are £5,000,000 any one occurrence in respect of Civil Liability (in the aggregate in respect of Products Liability) and £10,000,000 any one occurrence in respect of Employers’ Liability.
  • There is no Policy Excess for this cover.

Club Assets

This protects against the accidental loss of, or damage to, the Club’s assets.

  • Theft must be from forcible or violent entry.  Exclusions include theft from unlocked vehicles; wines spirits and stock; breakage whilst in use; computers and electronic equipment; theft of trophies by holder and failure to return.
  • The Sum Insured under this cover is £2,000.
  • There is a £25 Excess for this cover.

 

All members are reminded that hockey can be dangerous and serious injuries can, and do, occur.  The Club insurance does not cover for personal accident injuries.  Any member who feels that the Club Insurance does not provide adequate cover for their personal needs should take out further personal insurance to meet their own requirements.

Umpires are recommended to join the Umpire Associations, either the Herefordshire, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Hockey Umpires Association or the Gloucestershire Women’s Hockey Umpires Association.   Both these organisations are currently participating in the scheme arranged for Hockey Umpires by English Hockey Ltd through Perkins Slade.
